Research Status
I have been a visiting scholar at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and Leuven University. I am the principle investigator of several national projects and international joint fundings. My research group addresses fundamental problems in social network analysis, data mining, and semantic web.
I am recently working on representation learning on networks, social network mining, academic knowledge graph and AI driven MOOCs.
My research group has developed an academic search and mining system: ArnetMiner— also referred to as AMiner. It has collected a large scholar dataset, with more than 130,000,000 researcher profiles and more than 200,000,000 papers from multiple publication databases. AMiner offers a set of researcher-centered functions, including social influence analysis, collaboration recommendation, relationship mining, similarity analysis, and community evolution. The system has been in operation since 2006 and has attracted more than 8,320,000 independent IP accesses from over 220 countries/regions.
Another real system we recently launched is xuetangx.com for Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) hosting. In this system, we systematically study how students influence others’ study behavior, and how different formations of groups help improve learning quality. To date, the system has more than 10,000,000 registered users.
