Teaching Profile
I have taught various courses in computer science including Mathematic Logic and Set Theory, Expert System, Digital Image Processing, Selected Subjects in Computer Vision, Computer Vision over the last two decades. These courses cover from the undergraduate foundation courses, specialized courses and postgraduate degree courses. I have written a courseware for Digital Image Processing that won the second class prize of Tsinghua Excellent Teaching Software. I have been responsible for the translation of two renowned textbooks into Chinese: M. Sonka, V. Hlavac, and R. Boyle著, (艾海舟、苏延超 等译), 图像处理、分析与机器视觉,Tsinghua University Press. 2011.1;and Richard Szeliski著, (艾海舟、兴军亮 等译), 计算机视觉:算法与应用,Tsinghua University Press. 2012.1
Research Projects
International cooperation projects: Vision Computing Technologies for Face and Human Body Image and Video Processing (2002-2014);
The National Natural Science Foundation of China:Face-Based Content Indexing and Retrieval in Image and Video (2007-2009).
The National Natural Science Foundation of China:Visual Content Extraction and Analysis in Pedestrian Video (2011-2013).
Research Status
My research group is working on visual computing subjects in the area of computer vision and pattern recognition. For the past decades, we have been doing researches on object detection, tracking, alignment, pose estimation, recognition and so on, particularly on face and human as two specific visual objects. We have developed high performance rotation invariant face detection algorithm, real-time face and head tracking algorithm, fast and robust face alignment algorithm, fast and accurate human detection and tracking algorithm, fast human pose estimation algorithm, feasible human re-identification approaches, etc. One thing deserves to mention that our face detection algorithm is one of the world best that has been used in many products. Our research works may have potential applications in human-computer interaction, visual surveillance, video analysis and content extraction etc.
We have published more than 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals and international conferences including 2 TPAMI regular papers, 8 conference papers in ICCV, CVPR, ECCV (3 oral papers). Particularly one paper received the Best Student Paper Prize in CVPR 2007. One PhD thesis received the Beijing Capital City Excellent PhD Thesis Award in 2008. We have 4 granted international patents.
I am a senior member of the IEEE and a member of the IEEE Computer Society.
